Ron Dreffer passed away August 26, 2026 after a brief illness. We have no further details.
The family is planning to have a Celebration of Life but as most are out of town there is no indication of when that might occur.
We will update this page when we have more details.

This one is a hard one... Ron was always the caregiver.. the person who checked on his friends and family. John Mathews... Sandy Slete Mitchell.. Dottie Hill.. and many others always knew that Ron had their best interest. He was a beacon of light and kindness. His voice had a soothing tone that seemed to make things better. I hope he knew how much we all cared about him. I think we all feel an emptiness without him. He certainly will be missed . Love ya, Ron!

So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. Such sad and unexpected news.
I sent him a Get Well card just recently, after learning he was ill. I hope he got a chance to see it.

I am saddened to hear about Ron. Having known each other from our days at Schroeder, he was always a friend. I will miss our discussions about his Organ Procurement role. we had things in common given my son is a Liver Transplant surgeon. He will be missed RIP, i hope you received my get well card before the end came.

Ron was one of my first life long friends. We became close lifelong friends since we were 6 years old.
We go back to Kennedy/Silverton grade school and remained close best buds all through our life. We joined the Navy Reserve the Summer before our Senior year of High School. The Vietnam war was hot and heavy and we knew the chances of us being drafted were good and we wanted to serve our country. We enlisted under the buddie system and went on a two week reserve cruise together from N.C. To Ft. Lauderdale Fl. We experienced a Hurricane (Betsy) together. That was one HELL of experience we went through together. From there Boot Camp then active duty. We both went to Vietnam, just not together. I was in Ron's wedding and the hits just kept coming. We would talk at least twice a week and I miss those talks. Ron you are missed and loved by many. You lived a good life and I'm glade we shared a lot of them together.
Rest in peace bud, till we meet again!!
