I remember Syd well from Junior and senior high. And perhaps even North Avondale elementary which I attended very briefly having just moved to Cincinnati from Rochester, New York in 1959. He was always very pleasant and had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. I recall his surprise and amusement at a high school reunion when he discovered he was no longer taller than me. Rest in peace, Syd.
We hung out at the JCC Teen Canteen, playing pool and smoking cigarettes. Later, we burned lots of gas cruisin' Frisch's Mainliner looking to pick up chicks. We were better pool players than chick pickers. We eventually lived two blocks apart in Gold Manor.
